Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
LADE works with communities to ensure access to clean, safe, and sustainable water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services, focusing on health, dignity, and resilience. We collaborate with local leaders and committees to rehabilitate and solarize water systems, prioritizing renewable energy to reduce costs and emissions, especially in drought-prone and displaced areas.
In sanitation, we build gender-sensitive, disability-inclusive latrines with ramps and privacy features, and provide menstrual hygiene management facilities for women and girls. Hygiene promotion is led by trained community members and tailored to local contexts, ensuring access to critical health information.
During emergencies, LADE conducts rapid hygiene campaigns and distributes hygiene kits to prevent waterborne diseases. In outbreak-prone areas, we strengthen community preparedness through hygiene kits and prevention campaigns, supported by rapid response teams and health volunteers.
To ensure sustainability, LADE trains water user committees in management and maintenance. We foster inclusive decision-making to safeguard access for vulnerable groups. Across all initiatives, LADE integrates protection, gender, and inclusion, promoting safer and healthier communities for all.
